Valentine’s Day is often referred to as a “Hallmark holiday” … meaning that its essential purpose is to spark retail activity. And it certainly does that, especially among folks in romantic relationships. But in my view, Valentine’s Day is for celebrating all kinds of love: the love we share with family members, friends, and even our special connections to places.
In that spirit, and in keeping with the station’s raison d’etre, I’ve pulled together a 90s love song playlist for this week’s episode of The Viking Diaries Outloud (TVDO) that’s perfect for celebrating every kind of love in your life. We’ll hear from artists like Chris Isaak, k.d. lang, Sting and Annie Lennox. And of course, no 90s playlist would be complete without the Backstreet Boys and the Spice Girls represented.
Valentine’s Day is an opportunity to remind ourselves of the beauty of connection. Whether you’re planning a big date with your partner, surprising a close friend, or honoring cherished memories, the 90s provide the perfect backdrop for all kinds of love. So mark your calendars for this special episode of TVDO. Love isn’t just a playlist—it’s the harmony of life’s most meaningful relationships. 🌹🎶
